I’ve been an avid user of the Apple iPhone since the “4” got launched all those years ago. Before then, I’ve used a variety of mobiles and smartphones. Today I’ve got an iPhone 6 and have been using it for the past year. Millions of people like me are iPhone fans and rely on their devices to carry out all kinds of tasks.

Let’s face it; the Apple iPhone is more than just a mobile. It’s also a mini computer. As you can imagine, the device has a plethora of features that come standard. One of those standard features is Location Services.

You might be thinking that it’s not something that interests you. Perhaps you may have some privacy concerns? Or you just don’t feel it’s a feature you could find beneficial. I’d like to share with you some reasons why it’s more important than you think:

Location Services can remind you to get your shopping

Let’s say that you need to go and buy your weekly grocery shopping. If you use the Reminders app, you can link your shopping to a location – i.e. your supermarket. That way, when you are near the supermarket, the app will remind you to get your shopping!

Few people know of this almost unknown yet useful trick. It’s worth using it for occasions such as getting your groceries.

It can help you find your friends

Another app that comes as standard with the iPhone is “Find My Friends.” Assuming you both agree to use the app, it can help you locate where your friends are.

Some people might say they’d rather their friends didn’t know where they were at any given time. But, it’s an app that can have its uses. For example, on a night out it can help you locate group members that have gone missing.

Another way it can be useful is when you want to find out where your kids are. If they have an iOS device, you could check they are still at school and not elsewhere, for instance.

Location Services can help you find your stolen iPhone

Let’s face it; your iPhone won’t grow legs and run away from you. But, they can sometimes end up getting stolen. The ugly truth is that the iPhone is a desirable target for smartphone thieves.

Did you know that you can track stolen iPhone devices using Location Services? In conjunction with Find My iPhone or another tracking app, you’ll soon find out where it is.

It can tell you when to leave for an appointment

Many of us iPhone users take advantage of the built-in Calendar app. There’s one hidden feature that you might find interesting in it, and it’s called “Time To Leave.”

In a nutshell, Location Services can inform you what time you need to leave to get to an appointment in time. The clever system takes into account the time of day and traffic conditions.

So, as you can see, Location Services is quite a handy feature to use!
